N.C. Events: Giardina, Peelle & More

Bestselling novelist Denise Giardina makes several stops in North Carolina this weekend and early next week, promoting her new book, Emily’s Ghost: A Novel of the Brontë Sisters. On Saturday, August 8, she’ll be at both The Country Bookshop in Southern Pines and at McIntyre’s Books in Fearrington Village. Monday evening brings a visit to Durham’s Regulator Bookshop, and Tuesday she’ll be at Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh. Check out a feature on the book and interview with the author at the Asheville Citizen-Times

On the heels of a fine review in the New York Times (and with Triangle appearances nearly following in the footsteps of Giardina), Lydia Peelle brings her debut short story collection, Reasons for and Advantages of Breathing, to town early next week, with a Tuesday night appearance at the Regulator Bookshop and a Wednesday night reading at Quail Ridge Books.

And in the meantime don’t miss an afternoon with “NC Men of Mystery,” hosted on Saturday, August 8, at 2 p.m. at McIntyre’s Books in Fearrington Village. Confirmed participants so far include Tim Myers (under the alias Chris Cavender), JD Rhoades, Bryan Gilmer, Robert K. Brown, and Mark de Castrique.

Check out the MetroBooks calendar at left for more complete info on upcoming events and links to the bookstores mentioned here.
