Reynolds Price, A Juggling Rabbi & More

The closer we get to the actual holidays, the slimmer the pickings in readings and signings. In North Carolina, the coming week brings three holiday-themed events worth checking out:

First up, novelist Reynolds Price offers his annual Christmas reading on Friday evening, December 19, at Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh

Then nationally recognized storyteller Donald Davis presents his annual holiday program on Saturday morning, December 20, at McIntyre’s Books in Fearrington Village.

941And finally (best for last): Rabbi Aaron Herman of the Chabad of Cary shares the story of Hanukkah — while juggling (!!!) — on Sunday afternoon, December 21, at the Cary Barnes & Noble. This is a popular annual event. Get there early to get a front row seat.

In & Around Washington, DC

Events are slowing down in the DC area as well with the holidays on the horizon. One upcoming event of particular note takes place at Vertigo Books in College Park, Maryland: Kevin Merida, associate editor at the Washington Post and co-author of last year’s Supreme Discomfort: The Divided Soul of Clarence Thomas, joins photohistorian Deborah Willis to speak about their new book, Obama: The Historic Campaign in Photographs, on Saturday, December 20, at 5 p.m.
